Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had a wonderful Xmas and a restful break.
Fingers crossed our weather stays on a normal summer path.

We had two teams play in the 1-5 Mangawhai Classic Fours on December 27th.
Stuart Mackay, Flora Macdonald, Jane Mackay and Rosemary Nicol. They finished in sixth spot and all came home with a leg of lamb each.
Glenda Rountree, Roger Potter, Graeme Storey and Graham McGregor. They had a tougher day but came home each with a box of chocolates.

We have entered another two teams for this year, on the same date – December 27th.  If you are interested talk to me, I will be contacting you all again closer to the time.

From January 2024, entry into Bowls North Harbour (BNH) events will require entrants to have a BowlsHub ID number.
BowlsHub Aotearoa is an online event/member management system being implemented for this current season.

If you wish to play any 1-5 BNH Tournaments, 1-5 Interclub, Pennants plus all other NHB Tournaments, you will need an ID number.  I suggest you register for a number, there is no charge and once you get that number it is your unique number.

Our selectors cannot select you in BNH selected events unless you are registered.

You may think you will not need one now but you may do later down the track.

If you have any issues, you can contact me.

The Milford 5000 is being held at Milford Bowling Club on Saturday/Sunday 27/28th January. We have four teams entered
Gaye Horne, Michael Thomas and Allan Langley.
Glyn Taylor, Julie Chhour and Rosemary Nicol.
Hanaan Shahwan, Glenda Rountree and Joy Watkinson.
Flora Macdonald, Graeme McGregor and Barry Baillie.

Good bowling to those teams.  This is a top class tournament and would be a good one to go and watch.

A reminder that once a month on Thursdays the club runs a single entry tournament. Check the dates in the Club Handbook.  This is a good opportunity to enter and you will be paired up with other members to make a triples or a fours team, depending on numbers.

Important dates for 1-5 bowlers coming up are:
Saturday/Sunday 3/4th February  Men`s 1-5 Singles.
Saturday/ Sunday 10/11th February Women`s 1-5 Singles.
Saturday/Sunday 2/3rd  March Any Combination(A/C) 1-5 Pairs.
Saturday/ Sunday 9/10th March First Year Singles, Men`s and Women`s.
Saturday/Sunday 6/7th April NHB  Men`s and Women`s 1-5  Singles.
Saturday/Sunday 13/14th April Any Combination 1-5 Pairs.
Saturday/Sunday 20/21 April 1-5 INTERCLUB. This is a selected event, the selectors will call for names closer to the time.

You will need to be wearing club colours or whites for these events.

Make the most of your current summer bowls season, we have only four months to go.  I suggest you play as many of the above listed tournaments as you can.  Even if you feel you are not good enough, this is the place to learn.

All first years bowlers also should be playing the first year tournament.

Go out there have some fun and learn.

We are looking to run a Rules and Etiquette session with one of our umpires, Jean Ashby on Saturday 17th February for 1-5 and business Plus bowlers.  This will be starting at 11.30am and you can then play the haggle afterwards at 1.00pm.  I would encourage you all to attend this session to help you develop more knowledge about the game of bowls.

Alan.
