Please find my final update for the Summer season.

Yes the Summer season finishes this Friday 13th (Scary for some) when we will have a couple of games, mixed teams, at 1.00 pm followed by an afternoon tea (please bring a plate) and then the prize giving.

Please wear club colours or whites.

Apologies to those still working, that cannot do Friday.

We have the Bowls North Harbour Champ of Champ Fours being played on Saturday using our carpet green, where we have eight players involved.  This also means no haggle on this Saturday.  Future Haggles start at 12:30 pm over winter.

Last weekend saw the running of the Men’s and Women’s 1st year Singles and the 1-5 Any Combination Pairs.

The winners of our 1-5 singles, Flora Macdonald and Graeme McGregor will represent the club in the Champ of Champ singles on the weekend of May 21/22nd.   Good luck to these two.

Well done to Julie Chhour, Roger Potter and Michael Thomas and Graeme McGregor who won last weekend’s tournaments.

The 1-5 Pairs were won by Michael Thomas and Graeme McGregor by one shot over Gaye Horne and Glenda Rountree.

Both teams had three wins in a closely fought competition.

The standard of the 1st year singles was very high and bodes well for the future.

Annie McGrath and Julie Chhour had a great game with both players having had two wins.

It was 10 all, then 12 all, then 15 all and then 18 all with Julie getting the win with a three on the final end.

The Men’s 1st year  was also a close affair.
Roger Patter had a convincing win in the first game of three over Bill Lowe.
Bill came back in the second game needing to win.
Bill got away early but Roger came back strong.

With one end to play it was 18 all, it was great last end with both players holding at different times, but Roger came out with a one and the win and the Trophy.

We have two teams entered so far in the Great Western Showdown at Glen Eden, the flyer I sent you on Friday.

One of our teams entered is an all 1st year players team which is fantastic.

From Tuesday 17th May we start our Winter program, all on the carpet green and the dress for all events is Mufti.

Keep checking our website to any changes and additions to our program from our Member Handbook.

We have had fantastic weather for our summer program but we will encounter some cool and wet days over the winter so remember to dress warmly and have a jacket in your bag.

See you at our closing day if you can make it.
