The annual ANZAC Day tournament was held on 25 April with a good turnout of 31 players. We were fortunate to have David Hutcheson lead us for a few moments of memory and reflection on the events of over 100 years ago before play started and Ian Coombe lowered the flag to half-mast.

Three games were played in the afternoon and this was followed by a Chinese meal for those that were able to stay and others who joined us for this meal together. Thank you to Ian & Sandra Coombe who did all the organising for the meal.

The bowls themselves provided some interesting results but for the record in a second year in a row the Australian team of ANZAC’S convincingly beat the New Zealand team of ANZAC’s 835 to 753.

There were a number of prizes handed out and the main ones were –

Australian side 1st – Peter Orgias 83 points

2nd – Jan Gledhill 72 points

3rd – Gerd Hutcheson 64 points

New Zealand side 1st – Flora Macdonald 75 points

2nd – John Gledhill 65 points

3rd – Helen Aley 57 points
