64 teams entered the NHB Open A/C  2x4x2 pairs over the weekend.

Venues for Saturday section play were Hobsonville, Mairangi Bay, Browns Bay and Orewa with finals at Browns Bay.

Conditions were reasonable for the Saturday with scattered showers but Sunday provided some heavy downpours and some steady rain.

Mairangi Bay had four teams entered, Colleen Rice and David Lloyd along with Phil Chisholm and Theresa Rogers who played at Mairangi  Bay.

Bruce and Elaine McClintock along with David Payne and Julie Chhourplayed at Orewa.

Bruce and Elaine, David and Julie, Phil and Theresa all had three wins out of three to top their section.

David and Colleen had two wins and a draw to top their section.

A fourth game was then played, the first round of post section, with section winners playing off.

Unfortunately, all the Mairangi Bay teams lost their post section games, which meant they all went into finals for the plate section, with all the winners going into the main event finals.

still a very good achievement by our teams to be in the top 16 out of 64 teams.

Plate quarter-finals, unfortunately they were drawn to play each other. Elaine and Bruce defeated David and Julie 13-11.

David and Colleen defeated Phil and Theresa 16-4.

Plate semi-finals, again our teams were drawn against each other, with Elaine and Bruce defeating David and Colleen 19-4.

Plate final. Elaine and Bruce were defeated by Paul Daniels and Kevin Rainsford 10-4.

Well done to all our teams for getting so deep into finals, especially Elaine and Bruce for making it to the final.

The main event final was won by Daymon Pierson and Carlson Barnett defeating Shaun Goldsbury and Skye Renes 11-5.

A big thankyou to Glenda Rountree, Phil Chisholm, Graeme McGregor, Tony Stanaway, Colleen Rice and Graeme Storey who assisted in the running of the day at our club.
