The Stanaway Trophy fours for 1-8 bowlers was played on Sunday at the Manly Bowling club.
It was fine but very cold with a cool southerly breeze.
30 teams competed for the Trophy, representing many bowling clubs from the region and further afar.
Our own Tony Stanaway was there to present the Trophy.
We had two teams competing.
Glyn Taylor, Michael Thomas, Louise Ball and Annie McGrath.
Flora Macdonald, Graeme Storey, Julie Chhour and Rosemary Nicol.

We had 4 wins against Browns Bay 10-9, Manly 10-7, Milford 13-7 and Hobsonville 18-2.I guess it will come down to ends but as to which team takes the trophy but stoked to get 4 wins.Annie played lead, Louise 2, Mike 3 and I skipped.Everyone made a contribution – an excellent but cold and windy dayWe finished third with three teams having four wins.Orewa 1st, Manly 2nd and our team third.
Rosemary Nicol.Our team enjoyed a well-run tournament, where so many clubs were represented.The sunshine helped but the cold southerly that prevailed all day meant it was really difficult to keep warm.We were really happy to have three wins.Unfortunately we were slower to settle than the Hobsonville team, where we came up against a very good skip, so lost our first 6-11.Next was Takapuna, which was a very close game, which we won 10-8.We then played a young team from Russell, who ended up in the prizes, but we out-played them, winning 11-9.The last game was our highlight with a more decisive win over Mahurangi 12-5.Overall it was a great day, we were excited for our other Mairangi Bay team, who came third.It was lovely having Tony Stanaway, join our drinks table.

COMING UP THIS Sunday 17th is the final 1-8 winter fours.The Sorrill Cup at Browns Bay starting at 9.00am.Our teams will be hoping the weather will be warmer.Our teams are:Flora Macdonald, Julie Chhour, Jodie Cottier and Rosemary Nicol.Glyn Taylor, Michael Thomas, Graeme Storey and Annie McGrath.Good bowling to both teams and supporters most welcome.
