What a lovely day of bowls to celebrate John’s 100th birthday. Weather absolutely beautiful.

photo by Jan Gledhill on Johns actual birthday.
Most seemed to solve the problem about how many bowls we were playing (John is 100, my son is half his age, so divide John’s age by my son’s age and that is how many bowls we are playing today).
Great to see John deliver the jack to start the last game for his team and play a few ends. Coincidentally, this game was against Graham Ward’s team, Graham being the club’s next oldest member.

There were no four winners.
First, with three wins and a draw was Evan Thomas, John Hindmarch and Lindsay Gilmore.
There were several three winners, a couple with two wins and two draws, the best of them being Garry Banks, Wayne Glogoski and Mukesh Rohra with 31 ends.
Third was Elaine and Bruce McClintock and Helen Aley with 29 ends.
There were seven contenders for the daily prize, two of whom had 18 ends, the winner being Gordon Jenkins, Jodie Cottier and David Payne with a very impressive 41 points for.
There were three lucky dips – the usual one with $10 per player, and two extra ones courtesy of John and Caryl with $20 per player. Usual one went to George Jones, Steve Bartley and Steve McGregor. The other two went to Wynn Gray, Arthur Beale, and Kevin Cameron, and Alan Daniels, Kevin Robertson and Joy Watkinson.

Thank you John and Caryl for your hospitality today, enjoyed and appreciated by all. Good that you got the important birthday cards John – the King, the PM, the Governor General, the Minister for Seniors and your local MP.
