The BNH Men’s and Women’s fours were held over the weekend.
The women’s qualifying was at Birkenhead with the men at Riverhead and Helensville.
Finals on Sunday were at Birkenhead.
The weather was fine but quite windy.
Our men’s team was, Phil Chisholm, Leon Wech, David Payne and Bruce McClintock:
They beat a strong Birkenhead team in their first game, lost to Orewa in their second and had another win in their third over a strong Takapuna team.
Unfortunately they finished second in their section, losing out on differential to the Birkenhead team they beat earlier.
That team went onto make the final.
The final was won by a Chris Taylor skipped Takapuna team.
Our women’s teams were:
Geraldine Wight, Flora Macdonald, Robyn Pittams and Jodie Cottier.
Elaine McClintock, Judi Farkash, Kerin Roberts and Julie Chhour.
Glenda Rountree, Lorna Donald, Joy Watkinson and Rosemary Nicol.
Sheryl Wellington, Jan Gledhill, Colleen Rice and Theresa Rogers.
Elaine’s team won all three games to top their section including a win over Geraldine in the first game.
Geraldine’s team then had a good win over a very strong Takapuna team but lost their last game.
Sheryl’s team beat Glenda’s team first up, then had a loss to Milly Nathan’s Birkenhead team who made the final.
They won their last game against Helensville but were pipped on qualifying on differential, by the eventual winners Takapuna.
Glenda’s team, had a very tough section, they came out with no wins but did not disgrace themselves.
Elaine and two other teams had a bye in the quarter-final.
They drew Milly Nathan’s Birkenhead team in the semi-final.
In a very close and exciting game they went down by one, 11-12.oh so close!!
The final was won by Leeane Poulson’s Takapuna team over Milly Nathan’s Birkenhead team 17-8.
