The Men’s and women’s 1-5 year singles were played over the weekend of 21st and 22nd of February in quite pleasant weather, except for the wind, of course, 6 men had entered.

1st round:

Gary Warren defeated Bill Lowe with 21-15,

Craig Hughes defeated Joe Tordeich with 21-9,

Barry Baillie defeated Graeme Storey with 21-15.

2nd round:

Graeme – Craig: 21-10

Barry – Gary: 21-2

Bill – Joe: 21 – 16

3rd round:

Graeme – Bill: 21-12

Craig – Gary: 21-20

Barry – Joe not played

This gave us 3 qualifiers and a Round Robin for the Sunday.

The first game was an exciting and close game between Graeme and Barry, with Graeme getting ahead with 9-4 after 8 ends, 16-7 after 14 ends. Then Barry started to came back to 18-19, when Graeme got a 3 in the last end, winning with 21-18.

Second game ended with Craig defeating Graeme with 21-11.

Third game between Barry and Craig became a decider. If Craig defeated Barry, he would win. But Barry had something else on his mind, and took an early lead and won with 21-8.

With 1 win each it came down to differential:

Winner: Barry +10

Runner-up: Craig -3

For the women’s game we had 5 entries, played over a Round Robin.

Round 1:

Julie Chhour – Robyn Pittams: 21-14,

Jodie Cottier – Rhonda Dredge:  21-11.

Round 2:

Robyn – Christine Tordeich: 21-2

Julie – Rhonda: 21 – 6

Round 3:

Robyn – Jodie: 17-20

Julie – Christine: 21-7

Sunday

Round 4:

Jodie – Christine: 21-4

Robyn – Rhonda: 21-8

Round 5:

Rhonda – Christine: 2-20

At this stage it was clear that this game was the final, as both players had 3 wins.

Jodie started strong , but on 7th end Julie caught up, 6-6, and took off, till Jodie caught up with 15-15 at 18th end.

19th end: 16-15

20th end: 17-15

21st end: 17-18

22nd end: 20-18

23rd end: 20-19

24th end: 21-19
