Another ALL THE PAIRS tournament was held last Thursday.
With heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday the grass greens were closed so we played on the carpet.
The weather however on Thursday was amazing, virtually no wind and warm.
We had 18 teams so we were able to fit on the carpet which played extremely well.
There were six rounds of eight end games of 2x4x2, 2 bowl pairs, 2x2x2x2 pairs, Bonus pairs, Consistency pairs and Bowls2four.
A long day, lots of walking and lots of thinking with all the variations.
One team knew what they were doing and had an impressive six wins from six games along with 33 ends and 109 points.
They were Michael Jelley and Allan Blackman a previous member of our club. Well done Mike and Allan.
Second place with four wins, 30 ends and 82 points were Glenda Rountree and Judi Farkash.
Third place went to Hanaan Shahwan and John Coogan with four wins, 28 ends and 95 points.
Fourth place went to Gerry Strydom and Christine Tordeich also with four wins, also 28 ends but only 75 points.
There were two others four winners, who missed out on the top four prizes.
The ‘thanks for coming’ prize of a bag of pears each went to Roger Potter and Bill Lowe with one win, 17 ends and 43 points.
One lucky dip, also a bag of pairs each went to Alan Daniels and David Lloydd.
Thanks to Tony Stanaway for running the day, David Lloydd for setting up the tea and coffee, Larry and Steve for setting up the green, Barry on raffles, Jane and Stuart, Tony T. and George on dishes and Tony Trent on the bar. Also to Colin Rogan for helping with the draw.
The event was sponsored by Teresa Burns Hearing, unfortunately as we were running a bit late, Teresa made a speech but was unable to stay and present the prizes.
Her kind sponsorship is most appreciated.
Report by Alan Daniels.
