The Men and Women BNH 1-5 singles were held over the weekend.

Mairangi Bay had two players competing in both events.

Our two women were Jodie Cottier and Julie Chhour who both played at Sunnybrae.

Jodie had three strong wins to top her section, including a good win 21-13 over Stacey McDonald  from Milford.

Julie started well with two wins but lost her third game and finished fourth in her section. The top two in each section qualified.

Jodie received a bye into the semi-finals, her opponent there was Carol Voshaar a very experience bowler from Hobsonville.

Carol started really well and Jodie struggled to get into the game going down 21-6. Still an impressive effort for her to get so far.

Barry Baillie and Graeme Storey represented Mairangi Bay in the men’s event they played at Hobsonville.

Graeme had a tough section, up against Shaun Goldsbury from Manly and Mark Brown from Browns Bay.

Graeme lost all three matches but I’m sure he gained a lot of experience.

Barry also had a tough draw, drawing Lloyd Sinton from Browns Bay in his first game. Barry performed very well going down 21-17.

Barry won his next two games but so did Lloyd and with three wins, Lloyd topped the section.

The women’s final was between two Hobsonville bowlers, Deanne Bronlund defeated Carol Voshaar 21-15.

In the men’s final Hayden Wilkinson from Milford defeated Shane Don from Hobsonville in a very close game 21-20.

Both winners , Deanne and Hayden were the defending champions.

Thank you to all the supporters especially Glenda Rountree and Jan Gledhill who were the markers for Jodie and Julie.
