The BNH men and women Champ of Champ pairs were held over the weekend.

The men played at Browns Bay and the women at Mairangi Bay with all finals undercover at Orewa.

Our players were:  Sheryl Wellington and Theresa Rogers;  Phil Chisholm and David Payne.

Both teams drew Takapuna in their 1st round.

Sheryl and Theresa started well in their game, Takapuna fought back but an amazing shot by Sheryl, with her last bowl and five down trailed the jack for two.  They ran out the winners 21-10.,

The next day they played Lorraine Brassett and Jill Gowie from Mahurangi East in a quarter-final.  The Mahurangi team handled the undercover conditions very well to take the win 16-12. Lorraine and Jill then on to beat the well fancied Birkenhead team in the semi-final 17-13 and win the final against a strong Manly side 21-19.

Phil and David had a bye in the first round and then faced a very strong Takapuna team of Ian Hardy and Brent Malcolm. Phil and David started very well dominating their opponents, Takapuna slowly got into the game but the Mairangi Bay lads kept their cool to take the win 20-13. In the quarter-final they were up against Sunnybrae who had just had a good win over a strong Hobsonville team. Again Phil and David started well and kept the momentum going for a strong win 22-8.

In their semi-final they played Omaha, this time, Omaha made the good start, Phil and David hung in there but Omaha held on for a 24-19 win.  Omaha lost the final to Neil Fisher and Lloyd Sinton from Browns Bay 7-23.

Well done to both teams especially the men making it to the semi-final.

Many thanks to all the supporters over the weekend.
