There is some hope that we may be able to run business house bowls in December.  With the new requirements for scanning, social distancing and recording of the participants, the volunteers who run the Business House Community bowls are looking for some extra help.

The organising team need another couple of club members as volunteers to help with running the 3 Business House Bowls nights in December. One to sell raffle tickets and count the money and the other to help with checking players in as they arrive as we need a few more details than previously.

We have the usual volunteers but a couple more would be much appreciated. The Business House, Community bowlers are a very social group of players who are very friendly, so it is a fun night.

If anyone can help please contact Stuart Jamieson asap.  478 5566 or 027 495 3048

“Hi All,

As those who entered were advised,  we were forced to cancel the usual pre-Xmas round of Social BHB bowls due to Covid – 19 restrictions. Maybe now there is a glimmer of hope that we will get some play before Xmas, so I am taking the opportunity to let you know our thoughts and the basis of how we will proceed if allowed.

With all of November likely wiped out, it is impossible to run our usual league. After Nov 29th(the date the Government proposes to advise a move to the new traffic light system), it is our plan to offer organised play on Wednesdays 1st, 8th and 15th December, if allowed. These will be single evening events not leading to an overall league winner, just winners on the night. We will offer the usual BBQ , raffles and prizegiving and the bar will be open. Cost will be $40 per team per night. It would be easier for us  if teams commit for the 3 nights however we will work with you if you are unable to do this.

If the Government decides that we move to  traffic light level red we are able to have groups of 100 in hospitality venues, provided that the club uses vaccination certification. We can organise this number socially distanced, as required, in the clubrooms we believe.

On Saturday 6 November 2021 the Club Board took several decisions regarding the vaccination status required by all persons wishing to visit Club grounds and facilities and wishing to participate in bowling activities. These decisions generally follow the recommendations of Bowls New Zealand and Bowls North Harbour.

“The Club prides itself on being an organisation that puts the health and safety of our community first. Participation in normal club events will be restricted to double vaccinated participants.”

We will therefore only be able to offer entry into these pre Xmas Social games to teams with all players double vaccinated and prepared to disclose this status via an approved method. Can you please check amongst your team members regarding vaccination status and acceptance of disclosure because your team cannot participate as a team if a member(s) is not double vaccinated and this is disclosed to us.

We had 19 teams previously entered for this round before it was cancelled so we need these teams to reconfirm their entry to me and anyone else who would like to join in to please let me know. We really need another 1 or 3 teams. 22 teams will be the limit. Regrettably only  players can attend as we cant run the risk of exceeding the 100 limit. Those previously entered are guaranteed a slot and  1st in 1st allocated the extra available slots.

Entries close November 26th.

There were a couple of new teams entered whom  I promised to organise a “practice” session for. I will contact you separately to again organise this for you.

Any questions please contact me via email or on 4785566 or 0274953048.

We hope to see you all again in December.

Kind regards & stay safe.
Stuart Jamieson”
