Last Friday saw the completion of our Club Championship mixed 2x4x2 pairs.

With our grass greens closed and some people away it took four and a half days to complete this event.

Many thanks to all the players that made that happen.

The first event played on Friday was the second semi-final.

Graeme Storey and Flora Macdonald v Barry Baillie and Muy Chhour.

This was a close game.

Barry and Muy led 4-0 after three ends. Graeme and Flora came back to win the next four ends, including two threes. They now led 8-4 after seven ends.

Barry and Muy won the next two ends to draw level, 8 all after nine ends. Then there was a kill, the time was also running out on the clock. Enough time for one more end.

Barry and Muy played some great bowls, Graeme and Flora needed to move some bowls which did not happen and Barry and Muy picked up a five to win 13-8 after10 ends with time up.

It was a very good game with some very good and close heads.

The Final was between Barry and Muy and Elaine McClintock and Leon Wech.

Barry and Muy were on fire early on and after four ends they led 7-0.

Elaine and Leon then won the next three ends, playing some top bowls, picking up two threes and a four they now lead 10-7.

Barry and Muy picked up a two on the eighth end to be one behind 9-10.

Elaine was playing some great bowls with Leon also chipping in and they won the next three ends to lead 15-9 with one end to play.

Barry and Muy picked up a one on the last end but that was not enough with Elaine and Leon winning 15-10.

It was an excellent game with some top heads well done to Barry and Muy who bowled so well during the event and deserved to be in the final.

Elaine and Leon, a well-deserved victory and they will now go on to represent the club in the Champ of Champ event at the end of May.

That was the final Championship event this year.

Many thanks to the match committee team and all those that helped out during the year.
