In advance of the Bowls North Harbour Awards event this year, the Board decided to make a bid for the Club of the Year title.
While success on the greens is a component of the criteria to be met for determining the winner, there is a much wider criteria such as being able to demonstrate a focus on growth, sustainability and community including the likes of membership growth and retention, contribution to assisting and running national and centre events, community involvement, game formats, financial management, strategic and operational planning, volunteers and administration, outstanding contribution to the sport and proactive initiatives.
A small group was established to formulate and prepare our submission which was duly presented for consideration by the selection committee of Bowls North Harbour.
At the 25th Anniversary Awards Ceremony held recently at last year’s winners Browns Bay Bowling Club we are very proud to announce our submission culminated in Mairangi Bay Bowling Club being awarded the Club of the Year title for the 2025/26 season.
Thanks go to those who prepared the submission as well as all members who contributed to varying degrees on aspects of the criteria over the year to earn this honour.
In addition to the playing successes of many members over the season which have been previously documented, there was recognition at the awards event of Tony James selection in the Blind Jacks team for the world champs to be held in January 2027 and there were several special awards made at the ceremony involving our members.
