Rain was threatening and 8.30 was the official start time except for Mr Sparrow (aka Leon) who was clearing away ditch debris and surrounds as well as measuring up for future jobs. You don’t catch Leon in bed when there’s work to be done.
The rest of the squad – Ralph Cullen, Tony Pops, Tony James, Graeme Storey, Brian Rogers, Stuart & Jane Mackay, Alan Telford, and Murray Dyson (one of our Associate members) rolled in closer to time.
The carpet got a good vacuuming by Stuart while the bus shelter team cleaned and cleared away cobwebs and cockroaches. The heavy dirty work was dealing to the gutter turf which had to have the dirt shaken out and be rolled up. The turfs are now stowed away for winter – to be rolled out after the greens are made ready for play next season.
Tony James, our Vice-President, warmly thanks those above for turning up clean and going home wet and dirty but leaving the club tidier than before.
