On 11/12 February the Greenwich Gardens sponsored Founders Triples took place in which 26 teams participated which was an increase over last year’s field. Visiting players were welcomed from Takapuna, Browns Bay, Birkenhead, Howick, Beach Haven, Hobsonville, Manly and Carlton Cornwall.
Under very hot conditions the first day of qualifying took place and at the end of the day the top 8 teams were determined who played off on day 2 in Division A for the trophy. It was very pleasing to note that within the top 8 there were 5 Mairangi teams. The balance of the teams made up Division B. The conditions on day 2 were not as hot as the first day plus the wind came up making things a little tricky.
On day 2 the format in Division A was, based on a random draw, winners playing winners and losers playing losers and after 3 games the final order of placegetters was determined. A very close game to determine first and second places resulted in an extra end having to be played to get a winner.
The Division B teams played 4 games also based on a random draw on day 2.
The results for the event were as follows:
Division A
