Our first Have a Go Day for some time was held on Sunday.

The weather held and  it was quite warm with no rain.

There was an amazing turnout with 50 new bowlers and around 15 kids having a roll up.

They started rolling in before the start time of 10.00am.

It was not long before all rinks were full, it became quite manic and we then needed to ask people to come off and allow other people to have a go.

Everyone was very friendly and appreciated the coaching from our team.

When asked how they found out about the day, 90% said it was from our signs on the fence on the road frontage.

A few had bought with them the flyer that was delivered to their letterbox.

Every person left with a membership application, Guy filled his in on the spot and he is paying his sub as I write this.

Chris and Robyn, who live locally were so impressed they were back the next day watching the Masters.

I don’t believe we could have had a better response to all our work in promoting the day.

The response from many of these people was they are very keen to join, whether that is full or limited members we will find out in the coming weeks.

Firstly well done to the Have a go day committee, Russell Parkinson, Glenda Rountree and Alan Daniels.

Well done to all the club members who distributed the flyers, in particular Jane Mackay, Graeme McGregor, John Gledhill, Glenda Rountree and Alan Daniels who covered a lot of kms.

Hugh thanks to the team on Sunday, it was a lot of fun but also full on.

The team was: Allan Langley, Larry Cain, Leon Wech, Phil Chisholm, Gordon Jenkins, Graeme Storey,  the Tony’s, Trent, Stanaway, Popplewell and James, Barry McCrystal, Rosemary Nicol, Colleen Rice, Gerd Hutcheson, Jane James and Alan Daniels.

The main man on the day, was our cordon bleu chef, Steve McGregor. He was very popular all day and man, those sausages tasted good.

hanks to Larry for organizing the sausages, Colleen opening the bar, Jane our best ever bread butterer, Rosemary and Barry for the balloons and their team of blower uppers.

Report by Alan Daniels.
