Hi Everyone.
Please find the latest Junior report as we edge closer to the end of the season.

Wow, a fantastic result this weekend for Mairangi Bay, with both Theresa Rogers and Phill Chisolm both winning their North Harbour Champ of Champ Singles.  There is a full report on the bowls North Harbours website.

As the report says these two bowlers have been to the forefront in the Junior ranks and it caps off a stellar season for them both.

Well done Theresa and Phill !!!!!!!!

The Club Men’s Junior Singles were held the week before with Phil Chisholm claiming victory over Fata Letoa to earn the right to play in the Champ of Champs.

The Club Junior Pairs competition was held as a mixed event this year due to numbers.

The winners were David Payne and Colleen Rice who beat Phil Chisholm and Theresa Rogers.

The Club Women’s 1st year Singles was held on Tuesday 16th April with Beth Drummond playing Gaye Horne in a best of 3 playoff.

Beth won a tight first game 21-18 with Beth coming from behind to claim the win. In the second game Beth got out to an early lead but Gaye worked her way back to win 21-20 with a measure needed from a spectator to determine who got the victory.

So to a final game with Gaye came out the winner by 21-13.

Congratulations Gaye and also to Beth with some excellent bowls played.

These two are very promising bowlers.

Ironically these two met in the 1st year singles open tournament up at Manly Bowling Club on the previous Sunday.  As they were in the same pool they had to play each other in the first round with Gayle claiming victory.

Gaye went on to win her next three games and ended up second overall in the Women’s section on countback to a lady from Manly who also had four wins.

Unfortunately, Beth had a difficult day at the office losing all four games but showed on Tuesday she derived a lot of experience from that Tournament.

Well done Gaye, an excellent performance.

On Saturday/Sunday 27/28th April sees the North Harbour Men’s and Women’s 1-5 Open Singles being played.

We have Allan Langley, David Payne, Fat Letoa and Phil Chisholm competing in the Men`s, and Collen Rice and Gaye Horne competing in the Women’s.

Good bowling to all those players.

Sunday 5th May sees the Junior Interclub Regional Final for the Mercedes Cup being held at Hikurangi.

We all hope that it is a reasonably fine day, unlike last year where it rained most of the day and bowling was virtually impossible.

We have a very strong team with Phil Chisholm in the singles, David Payne and Colleen Rice in the pairs and Fata Letoa, Allan Langley and Theresa Rogers in the Triples.

They will meet last year’s winners Balmoral from Auckland and teams from Counties and Northland.

Let’s hope they can bring the Trophy home.

Just a reminder the North Harbour Centre 1-8 Men’s and Women’s Triples will be held on 18/19th May.             Entries close Sunday 28th April.

1-8 Men’s and Women’s  Fours will be held  on 25/26th May.              Entries close Sunday 5th May.
