We had two teams competing in the National Interclub 7’s final’s in Wellington last week and on the weekend.
Our teams were:
Elaine McClintock, Colleen Rice, Lorna Donald, Sheryl Wellington, Jan Gledhill, Jodie Cottier and Theresa Rogers.
Michael Thomas, Phil Chisholm, David Payne, Leon Wech, Peter Orgias, Gordon Jenkins and Allan Langley.
This is a tough competition, moving venues each day, dealing with difficult weather conditions and playing some very strong and experienced teams, containing New Zealand representatives and centre title holders.
The men drew with Napier, defeated Geraldine and Kaitaia and lost to Milton, West End and Stoke. West End went on tolose the semi-final, while Stoke won the event.
Mairangi Bay finished fourth out of seven teams in their section. A very strong performance.
The women had less success finishing fifth out of five teams in their section.
They lost to Paritutu who reached the semi-finals, they then beat Blenheim and then lost to Raumati and Tauranga.
Well done to all our players.
