NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING OF MEMBERS OF MAIRANGI BAY BOWLING CLUB Inc.

Notice is hereby given that the Board has called a Special General Meeting of members of the Mairangi Bay Bowling Club to be held on Thursday 6 November 2025 at 4.15pm (or such later time as may be called) to discuss and vote on the following resolution as being proposed by the Board

Resolution –

In accordance with Section 17.3(d) of the Constitution of Mairangi Bay Bowling Club Inc. concerning the Powers of the Board, the Board seek the approval of members to incur capital expenditure in excess of $20,000 in this financial year to restore and extend the life of the carpet green.

Explanation –

The Board has been concerned with the deterioration in the condition of the Harcourts Community Carpet Green through the continuing use of static rink placement and the dumping and dropping of bowls in the same area of the rink lines, and to that extent sought a report from Tiger Turf on the state of the carpet green and the ongoing maintenance level required to obtain maximum life with the carpet green as a quality playing artificial green.

The report was constructive and recognised what we can see of the green. The fact that the rinks have not been shifted on a regular basis and there has been poor spraying and daily maintenance of the surface for sometime has led to moss growing in the seams, wearing on the same tracks that the bowls take, and to the shade and protection of the surrounding trees, has all added to the effect of where the green is now.

In order to restore the carpet and to extend the life of the playing surface, Tiger Turf has provided a project scope report to remove the existing surface, survey and repair the low spots, relay the underlay and turn the woven surface up the other way to what it is currently laid. A stretch of the green within six months will be done at no charge if it is required. The contract price submitted by Tiger Turf to carry out this work is $24,135 plus GST. Following the carrying out of this work the Board intends to ensure that a comprehensive maintenance programme is undertaken and rules for use established to extend the life of the carpet green to its maximum.

The Board recommends to the members of the Mairangi Bay Bowling Club that they support the passing of this resolution.
