Seventeen teams of triples contested the tournament on Thursday 16 July due to a late cancellation. It was too late to re-enter a balloted team so we had a bye. The weather was beautifully clear and sunny and, as a consequence, play commenced at 9.00am, following Argentina’s eliminating England from the World Cup, with a plan to complete the programme before it became too cold. By the time the tournament finished at 3.20pm, it was already very cold on rinks 8 and 9.

There were two four-winners: Lindsay Gilmore, Elaine McClintock and Colin Rogan with 4 wins, and 34 ends. Second were Jan Gledhill, Larry Cain and David Payne with 4 wins and 31 ends. Third: Bevan Smith, Evan Thomas and Ian Hardy with 3 wins and 26 ends. In 10th place were Phil Chisholm, Theresa Rogers and Colleen Rice with 2 wins and 22 ends.

The Daily Prize for coming 15th went to Tony James, George Jones and Steve McGregor.

The Lucky Dip went to Leon Wech, Stuart Jamieson and Bevyn Darlington.

Thanks to Leon for the green setup, the early cup of tea and raffles, Graeme Storey, Flora and Steve Bartley for the kitchen cleanup and Tony Trent for the bar.

Special thanks to Brian Rogers for the beautiful cake at lunchtime celebrating his 25 years of membership.
