On Thursday 02 October a reduced field of 14 teams took to the carpet green as the Masters Tournament reached semi-final day.
The weather forecast was for a deterioration about the middle of the day and downpours in the afternoon. The forecasters were correct with steady rain during the second morning game. It persisted during the lunch-break and the afternoon resumption was delayed. The decision to delay was proved correct when the sky cleared, the green dried out and the day was completed in hot sunshine. Let’s hope it will be the first of many this season.
First were George Durbridge, Steve McGregor and Steve Bartley with 4 Wins, 31 Ends and 50 points
Second were Dave Forster, Sherril Watson and Helen Aley with 4 Wins, 28 Ends and 50 Points.
Third were Ian Coomb, Craig Hughes and Bruce Aley with 3 Wins, 28 Ends and 48 Points
The Daily Prize (for 2 consecutive wins) went to Rick Dixon, Stuart Mackay and Rick George with 16 Ends
Lucky Dip: George Jones, Tony Popplewell and Tony Stanaway.
