Another full field of 18 teams, with 4 teams balloted out.
Weather forecast not too bad, with showers early in the morning and okay for the afternoon. Forecast was a bit wrong but we got there, with a later start to the day, stoppages for heavy showers each game, but finally four games played, each of one hour 20 minutes. The plus was it wasn’t cold and minimal breeze. Thanks to all for hanging in there, meaning a later finish, but an even competition time wise across the four games.
Only one four winner, so first place to Allan Langley, Lorna Donald and Michael Jelley. Second was Bruce and Elaine McClintock and Colin Rogan with three wins and a draw. There were five three winners, the best of them, in third place, was Phil Chisholm, Brian Rogers and Arthur Beale, with 32 ends.
Daily prize was extended to the best two consecutive wins (rather than two in the morning or two in the afternoon). There were five contenders – two with wins in the morning, one with wins in the afternoon, and two with wins either side of the lunch break. Interestingly, the prize went to John Hindmarch, Ian Hardie and Connie Mathieson with two wins either side of lunch, with 17 ends.
Lucky dip went to Glynn Taylor, Glenda Rountree and Louise Ball.
Thanks to all who helped out in so many ways during the day. A great turnout of women and men to do the kitchen after lunch.
