It wasn’t the most pleasant day for bowling but there will be worse to come.
A full field of 18 teams endured the windy conditions, playing three bowl triples with one bonus points every end after the leads had finished. The day was timed to perfection, games shortened to one hour 15 minutes, with the bell going to signal the end of the last game of the day just as the light rain came in.
There were two four winners, the best of them, well ahead with 24 ends (an impressive average of 6 out of 8 ends played each game), was Elaine and Bruce McClintock and Lindsay Gilmore. Second, with 19 ends, was Phil Chisholm, Colleen Rice and Mike Jelley. There were four three winners, the best of these, taking out third place with 21 ends was Tony Trent, Lorna Donald and Bruce Aley.
The daily prize was awarded to the team that had the most ends in two games won consecutively (morning, afternoon or before and after lunch). This week it went to Evan Thomas, Ian Hardie and Connie Matheson with wins before and after lunch and 13 ends (remember – only 16 ends played in these two games!).
Lucky dip was won by Jan Gledhill, David Payne and Jodie Cottier (who got back her pile of small coins she used to pay her entry fee).
Thanks to all who helped in all of the various ways needed to make the day successful, with special thanks to Phil Chisholm for preparing the green so well.
