Hi Everyone, Thursday 28 December saw the running of the third All the Pairs tournament.

We had a big field of 24 teams.  We lost George Jones and John Lindsay to covid at late notice but we were able to secure replacements.

The day was forecast with showers and gusty winds.  The showers did not arrive but the gusty winds did, we should be used to them by now, so conditions were difficult on the slow greens.

All the Pairs is a tournament with six different variations of pairs, 2x4x2 pairs, 2-2 pairs,  2-2-2-2 pairs, bonus pairs, consistency pairs and Bowls2Four pairs.  It is a long day with six games, it is challenging with all the different formats but most of all it is fun.

The winners were George Durbridge and Kevin Sturgeon with 5 ½ wins.

Second was Chris Charles and Judi Farkash with 5 wins and 33 ends.
Third was Colin Rogan and Bruce McClintock with 5 wins and 30 ends.
Fourth was Bruce Aley and Barry Baillie with 4 wins and 33 ends.
The ‘thanks for coming’ prize went to Alan Daniels and Ron Horne. They had 6 unlucky games, where the opposition were clearly better.
There were two lucky dips, they went to Russell Parkinson and Annie McGrath and also Steve McGregor and Graham Ward.
There were also two random prizes which went to Tony Trent and Glenda Rountree and also Jane and Stuart Mackay, they all won a bag of pears.

A big thank you to Tony Stanaway for running the tournament and the other helpers on the day.

There was some really positive feedback on the day about the tournament which was great to hear.

The next All the Pairs is scheduled for Tuesday March 26th 2024.
