In the weekend, 13/14 January, Women’s Pairs Championship finally got played, after being postponed from November because of rain.

We had 7 pairs entered, which unfortunately gave us a bye.
Elaine and Kerin qualified with 3 wins, beating Theresa and Irene, Jan and Colleen and Rosemary and Glenda.
Theresa and Irene qualified, beating Gaye and Joy and Gerd and Jeanette.
Gaye and Joy qualified beating Jan and Colleen plus having a bye.
It needs to be mentioned that Jan and Colleen had 2 games that came to a draw, where they lost with one point, in both extra ends.  So exciting and so disappointing for them!
Fourth qualifier were Julie and Muy, with a bye and a win against Rosemary and Glenda
In the first semifinal Gaye and Joy beat Elaine and Kerin with 21-10.
Mother and daughter, Muy and Julie, beat Theresa and Irene, in the second semifinal, with 17/12.
In the final, mother and daughter got ahead the first 6 ends. Gaye and Joy catching up, with a 5 in the ninth end, getting to 13 all in the 11th end. After that they slowly but surely got ahead to win with 24-16.
There were some hopes for the mother and daughter team, but Gaye and Joy had a well-deserved win, being defending champions.
Congratulations to them and to all who took part.
