The Stanaway trophy 1-8 fours was held at Manly on Sunday.
We had one team entered from Mairangi Bay, Flora Macdonald, Graeme Storey, Annie McGrath and Rosemary Nicol.
Please find a report from the team. A well run and enjoyable tournament although the competition was tough. The weather was good to us with plenty of sunshine and no rain.
We struggled in the morning and lost to a very good Mt Albert team 17-5. We were outplayed but managed to win 5 ends out of 11.
We played a very good Manly side and lost 14-7. After lunch we played a lot better to beat Hobbie 10-8 who did come 3rd in the prizes which was their only loss.
Unfortunately lost to Sunnybrae 11-6 in the final game. A big thank you to Jane and Stuart for coming and cheering us on. It was especially nice to relax and enjoy a drink with Tony Stanaway afterwards.
The winning team were a Shaun Goldsbury skipped Manly team, with Mahurangi East 2nd and Hobsonville third. The winning trophy was presented by our president Tony Stanaway.
The final of the 1-8 fours tournaments is on Saturday week August 29th at Mahurangi East. Again we have one team entered : Michael Thomas, Bill Lowe, Julie Chhour and Rosemary Nicol.
