Thanks to an accurate weather forecast, a full tournament was completed in mostly pleasant conditions, a shower just before we started (wetting the seats that Leon had just wiped dry) and a couple of light skiffs towards the end of the last game, turning to light drizzle as we finished.
A full field of 18 teams played a day of three bowl triples (three bowls apparently not everyone’s favourite format!).
No ballot required this week either.
There were two four winners.
In first place was Lindsay Gilmore, Colin Rogan and Bruce McClintock with 18 ends.
Second, one end behind, was Peter Orgias, Gordon Jenkins and Allan Langley.
The best of the three winners, in third place with 20 ends, was Gerry Strydom, Graeme McGregor and Muy Chhour.
In tenth place, with two wins and 18 ends was Jan Gledhill, Larry Cain and Hanaan Shahwan.
There were three teams with zero wins, the best of them being Roger Potter, Tony Popplewell and Tony Stanaway with 15 ends, taking out 16th place prize.
Lucky dip went to Elaine McClintock, Connie Mathieson and Grant Keats.
A couple of interesting observations: Firstly – 72 games were played during the day and there were no drawn games. Secondly, some names are coming up so frequently in results that my iPad is predicting them as I type.
Thanks to all those who helped make the day successful, especially David LLoydd, Leon Wech, Colleen Rice, Joy Watkinson and Michael Jelley who did specific things.
