On a beautiful sunny, warm and virtually windless day the last of the summer Pairs was held on 23 April. Because the grass greens had been closed for the season and entries for the event well exceeded the maximum number that could be accommodated on the carpet, a decision was made to split the day into two events – one in the morning and the other in the afternoon each of 3 games – thus avoiding a large number of teams being balloted out and enabling all to participate.

There were 16 entries in the morning session which ended up with 4 three winners but with only 3 prizes one team unfortunately missed out. The results were:

1^st        Bruce McClintock and Colin Rogan with 3 wins and 18 ends

2^nd       Elaine McClintock and Kerin Roberts with 3 wins, 14 ends and 30 points

3^rd        Glenda Rountree and Judi Farkash with 3 wins, 14 ends and 28 points

The unlucky team also with 3 wins was John Gledhill and Glyn Taylor who had 12 ends.

The Daily prize was won by David Payne and Ian Hardy

In the afternoon session there were 10 entries and the results were:

From now on all events will be triples and ballots will be made if entries exceed the maximum number able to play on the carpet. The “conditions” relating to ballots have been published and will be applied. Please understand and accept the necessity for the balloting system.
