A full field of 18 teams, with two teams unfortunately having to be balloted out. The good thing for these teams is that any team entered by that skip during the winter season, will not be balloted out again, unless all teams entered for a tournament have already been balloted out.
It was great to have John Miles visit for an hour or so during the morning.
A slightly shortened day in order to beat the predicted showers and rain, which didn’t eventuate, although the increasingly strong and gusty wind did. The wind’s effect was evident as the afternoon wore on, by the increasingly varied distance of bowls from the jack and on the bank. Quite difficult bowling.
Only one four winner, so first place went to Lindsay Gilmore, Colin Rogan and Bruce McClintock. Close behind, in second place, with three wins and a draw was Jan Gledhill, Jodie Cottier and David Payne. There were four three winners, the best of these, in third place, was Larry Cain, Arthur Beale and Brian Rogers, with 27 ends. There were four contenders for the daily prize, the best of them being Leon Wech, Tony Popplewell and Bevyn Darlington with two wins in the afternoon, and 14 ends. Lucky dip went to our visitors from Milford – Keith, John and Laurie.
