Post section of Women’s Singles Championship.
On Sunday 8th of March we managed to finish Women’s Singles Championship, that was rained out on 18th January.
With 9 qualifiers we have the situation when one game has to be played first, before the Quarter Finals can be played!
The qualifiers were:
Sheryl Wellington
Elaine McClintock
Jodie Cottier
Muy Chhour
Jan Gledhill
Colleen Rice
Julie Chhour
Annie McGrath
Judi Farkash
Drawn to play the first game were Elaine and Sheryl. Elaine started strongly, but Sheryl caught up quickly and eventually had a solid win with 21-14.
Quarter Finals:
Judi and Annie had a close and exciting game, 12-12 after 16 ends, then Judi managed to take off and win with 21-15.
Julie and Colleen also had a close game up till 12th end, when Colleen got some strong ends, winning with 21-10.
Jan and Muy, again an exciting game, with Muy leading up to 12-12 in the 15th end. With a 4 next Jan took off and won with 21-13.
Jodie unfortunately had to wait a while for her game against Sheryl, who continued playing well, winning with 21-14.
Semifinals:
Judi and Colleen, a quite even game to start, with Judi getting the lead with 11-6 after 12 ends. Then Colleen showed her strength and won with 21-13.
Jan and Sheryl also started evenly, but Sheryl was just too strong, winning with 21-13.
Final:
Colleen and Sheryl, a fabulous game, where Colleen continued to play very well, winning with 21-11.
