Friday 7th July was the first round of the Bowl North Harbour Winter Cup. Weatherise, not a pleasant day: cold wet and windy
The Women’s event on day one was played in three sections at Manly.
The Mairangi Bay team of Sheryl Wellington, Jan Gledhill, Colleen Rice and Theresa Rogers had 3 wins from 3 game. They sit second in their section on points difference.
Gerd Hutcheson, Flora Macdonald, Louise Ball and Rachel Long had I win and sit in 5th place.
Jo Baxter, Gaye Horne, Jo Watkinson and Rosemary Nicol had 2 wins with a 1 point loss to a strong Orewa ream. They sit second in their section.
Our men played at Sunnybrae with all three teams playing there, the other section of the men was at Warkworth.
The team of Peter Orgias, Barry McCrystal, Steve McGregor and Allan Langley had a good day winning all three games. They sit in 3rd place on points difference.
Kevin Sturgeon, Geoff Ladd, Stuart Mackay and John Gledhill had 2 wins losing to the Peter Orgias team. They had a strong win in their first game against the strong Lionel Drew team.
Jim Price, Russell Parkinson, Rick George and Graeme McGregor and no wins which included a loss to the Kevin Sturgeon team. They sit in 13th position and will need a strong result in the second day.
The second day is Friday 21st July with the men back at Sunnybrae and the Women moving Browns Bay.
