Tuesday, February 24 was Harcourts, James and Mark‘s Fun Day. A good turnout of 48 club members entered and for once the weather obliged and we had a stunning day weatherwise. Sunshine and only a light breeze rather than some of the almost gale force conditions we’ve had to endure  of late.

It was a great turn out & the green looked great with everyone wearing their Harcourt ‘s Cooper & Co sponsored club shirt.

The coffee and van was in attendance (thank you James & Mark) with much appreciated ice cream’s out doing the coffees in popularity.

The format for the day was a Sandra inspired Scramble, & although everyone played in the same position as a Skip or Lead or a 2/3 the composition of the teams they were in changed each round giving members a chance to play with or against others they might not normally encounter

Bowling to a displaced jack was a challenge for some as was the Leads bonus end. A Power Play each game helped some teams boost their score. Others, not so much,

There were prizes for the first toucher in each game with Rosemary, Rhonda and Steve Bartley being the lucky recipients of a bottle of bubbles each . At the end of play team compositions were revealed and the Skip, Lead & 2/3 scores of each team were added together to give  a total score. There were prizes for everyone.  The winning team with the combined score of 135 was Bruce McClintock, Colleen Rice and Kevin Cameron. They had first pick of the prizes. Coming in a close second with 134 points was Jan Gledhill, John Lindsay, and Annie McGrath.  John Lindsay also scored the highest individual score of 46 points. We won’t name the gentleman who managed to score only 14 points overall but we hope he enjoyed the chocolate fish!

James & Mark both attended prize giving and were thanked by Club Members for their generous sponsorship. Following Prize Giving they were each  presented with their  Mairangi Bay Social Membership cards .
