The BNH Men’s and Women’s Champ Triples were held over the weekend. The women were at Birkenhead and the men at Milford and Mairangi Bay with all finals at Milford on Sunday.
We had four women’s teams entered out of a total of 18 teams.
Our teams were:
Elaine McClintock, Jodie Cottier and Theresa Rogers. They had two wins out of two and topped their section.
Sheryl Wellington, Jan Gledhill and Colleen Rice. They only had the one win out of three.
Glenda Rountree, Judi Farkash and Hanaan Shahwan. They unfortunately did not have a win.
Irene Donaldson, Lorna Donald and Rosemary Nicol. They had one win out of two as did the other two teams. They finished second on differential.
In the round of eight, six teams had a bye with Elaine’s team defeating Manly 23-7. In the semi-final, they had an excellent and close win over Milly Nathan, Lauranne Croot and Connie Mathieson from Birkenhead 21-20. In the final, another excellent win 18-14 over Lisa Dickson, Glenis Ryan and Trish Croot from Takapuna.
Well done team, congratulations. Jodie’s first Centre title.
We had two men’s teams entered out of a total of 44 teams.
Phil Chisholm, David Payne and Bruce McClintock. They lost their first game to a strong Birkenhead team 15-17, won their next two and finished second in their section, with only the top team qualifying.
Gerry Strydom, Barry Baillie and Graeme McGregor. They won three out of three to top their section.
In the round of sixteen, they had a bye. In the quarter-final, they had a good win over Simon Poppleton, Grant Keats and Ray Skoglund from Takapuna 16- 13. In the semi-final they lost to Evan Thomas, Peter Nathan and Chad Nathan 14-18. This was the team that Phil lost to in their first game. That was a great result by Gerry, Barry and Graeme, well done.
The final was won by Graham Skellern, Ian Hardy and John Whiteford from Takapuna 15-13. A special thanks to our team that helped run the day on Saturday for all the visiting bowlers.
Tony Stanaway, John Gledhill, Queenie de la Croix, Graeme Storey, Phil Chisholm, David Payne and Barry Baillie.
